Fuquay-Varina crash injury representation from Julian Doby
Julian Doby represents people injured in crashes in Fuquay-Varina. His only office is in Graham, and the first meeting with a Fuquay-Varina client is by phone or video.
I represent people hurt in crashes in Fuquay-Varina, working from my office in Graham. My first meeting with a Fuquay-Varina client is by phone or video. The firm has no office in the town or elsewhere in Wake County.
By the town's own description, three state and federal highways meet in Fuquay-Varina. The sections below cover the facts about the town that change how a crash claim starts here.
Is Fuquay-Varina in Wake County or Harnett County?
Both counties touch the town. The North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management lists Fuquay-Varina as a municipality in more than one county. Its July 2025 estimate places all 46,493 residents in the Wake County portion and none in the Harnett County portion.
The county line itself changed near the town. Fuquay-Varina's planning page says a change to the Wake and Harnett county line affected its request to expand its extraterritorial jurisdiction as of April 1, 2019.
The county matters for the crash report. Inside the town limits the Fuquay-Varina Police Department is the agency under G.S. 20-166.1. Outside the town the statute names the State Highway Patrol or the sheriff of the county where the crash happened. Where the town meets Harnett County, a crash outside the limits on the Harnett side falls to the Patrol or the Harnett County sheriff and not the Wake County sheriff.
How many crashes did Fuquay-Varina have in 2024?
The city crash data table in the 2024 North Carolina Traffic Crash Facts report counts 1,024 crashes in Fuquay-Varina. The same row lists 3 people killed and 449 injured.
The Fuquay-Varina crash statistics page shows the alcohol, pedestrian and bicycle columns from that row. It also sets out NCDOT's separate three-year count for the town.
The wrongful death page is written for families after a fatal crash.
Which highways run through Fuquay-Varina?
The town names them itself. In a 2023 transportation planning document the Town of Fuquay-Varina wrote that three state and federal highways intersect in town, US 401 and NC 55 and NC 42.
- The US 401, NC 55 and NC 42 junction. NCDOT lists project U-5751 to improve the intersection where all three meet and to extend NC 55 to Judd Parkway east of Stewart Street. NCDOT says the work aims to relieve existing and future traffic congestion, and it notes the town's rapid commercial, residential and mixed-use growth. NCDOT puts the funding at $176.5 million, and the town says NCDOT will fully fund and manage the work at no cost to the town.
- Toll NC 540. NCDOT lists Fuquay-Varina among the towns the Complete 540 project connects. The Turnpike Authority opened the Triangle Expressway's first extension in September 2024, according to NCDOT. NCDOT describes the full project as running from the NC 55 Bypass in Apex to I-87, US 64 and US 264 in Knightdale, with completion scheduled for 2028. Its project page lists one Phase 1 section running from east of Pierce Olive Road to US 401 and the next running from US 401 to I-40 and US 70.
On any of these roads the notice rule in G.S. 20-166.1 follows the spot where the crash happened and not the name of the road. G.S. 143B-1716 also directs the Highway Patrol to regularly patrol the highways of the State, so the report itself shows which agency worked the crash.
Who responds to a crash inside Fuquay-Varina?
The Fuquay-Varina Police Department works crashes inside the town. The department is at 401 Old Honeycutt Road, and for a crash with no injuries the town's FAQ says to call the department at 919-552-3191. The town's own guidance says to call 911 and request an ambulance if anyone is hurt. It also tells drivers to stay in the vehicle until emergency personnel arrive and to have a license, registration and proof of insurance ready for the officer.
The town's Records & Reports page says wreck reports can be requested from NCDMV and are typically available within five days, and its police FAQ offers an online copy through CRASHDOCS by Carfax. The Fuquay-Varina crash report guide walks through that request and the town's records line.
The State Highway Patrol states that crash reports from every law enforcement agency in North Carolina are forwarded to NCDMV. A report a trooper wrote on a road outside town ends up in the same place.
Which emergency departments serve the Fuquay-Varina area?
UNC Health Rex lists Rex Holly Springs Hospital at 850 S. Main St. in Holly Springs with an emergency department of 24 beds. WakeMed lists a 24/7 emergency department at its Apex Healthplex.
Inside Fuquay-Varina itself the town's healthcare page describes a WakeMed medical office building that houses family medicine and specialty services. WakeMed announced on July 31, 2025 that the state had granted the certificate of need for a Fuquay-Varina Healthplex, which WakeMed says will hold its ninth full-service emergency department. The town's healthcare page also notes that WakeMed's flagship campus is designated a Level 1 trauma center by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services.
Once you settle the case you have no opportunities to get treatment for problems that arise down the road. That is one reason treatment comes before settlement.
How does representation from Graham work for a Fuquay-Varina crash?
The first meeting is by phone or video, clients can also meet with me in person, and the office stays at 110 W. Elm Street in Graham. I have been admitted to practice in North Carolina since 1998.
The adjusters need to know that we heavily document our client's damages and that we are prepared to go to court for our client. That work starts with the policies. The laws change constantly and insurance policies have to be reviewed to determine coverage and stacking of policies.
Call 336-221-8900 or email julian@juliandobylaw.com between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. The Wake County page covers the county courthouse and court district for a claim filed in Wake.
